Experience

My professional career began with the start of a design/build business which ran for seven years. I am well versed in design, building technology, building science, structures, estimating, inspections and the management of building, construction and engineering systems. I operate Chief Architect Cad, AutoCAD, Microsoft suite, Adobe Suite and many other computer software systems. My Project type experience includes residential, commercial, retail, and engineering projects.

Equipped with a diverse and impressive record of achievements, as Chief Architect of Airoom Architects I lead and managed the architectural teams to achieve record results, the highest and most recognized in the Design/Build industry at that time. Airoom Architects, Inc. is a division of Airoom, Inc. which serves the greater Chicagoland area; Architects and Builders specializing in home renovations & remodeling, home additions, custom homes, teardowns, interior design, kitchens, baths and more. Visit Airoom’s web site at www.airoom.com to see examples.

Similarly, Design First Builders was my next opportunity to help many Home Owners realize their dreams.

My experiences at TOKI & Associates, Inc., a Consulting Engineer & Architectural firm located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provided a variety of other project types and venues. I was hired by TOKI to start up a new architectural division. My responsibilities included marketing, supervision of architectural and structural projects along

with construction inspection services. Further experience extends to client relationships, marketing, consulting, schematic design, design

development, construction documents, estimating, contract administration, permit processing, material and color selection, construction observation, construction administration, punch list for job close-out, general administrative duties, supervision, service, final product & customer satisfaction.

For the past 3 years to present he has served as a Forensic Architect managing risk to the parent company and subsidiaries. Through analysis, inspections and reports on   existing architectural conditions for each specific project. Travel to every   project site to investigate, inspect and report on the existing conditions, including   architectural, structural, mechanical and all pertinent systems. Review and   evaluate those conditions along with permitting, zoning, historic nature,   constructability and engineering issues if any and compare to a contracted   scope of work. Recommend solutions to variations in scope, etc. Estimated   construction cost for duration – 73M USD.

From March 2006 through April   2017 Preston served as Director of Architecture and Architect of Record for a   residential design/build firm. Estimated construction cost for duration – 66M   USD.

· Here he provided leadership and vision for the company and staff.

· Ensure that each project is built per concept and specifications.

· Develop the project as required for architectural, engineering,   structural, MEP, electrical, plumbing and any specialties.

· Meet project schedules, ensure a high level of quality, complete technical   aspects and adhere to governing zoning, building and safety codes,   regulations and ordinances.

From June 2008 through August   2009 Preston provided architectural services and consulting to an   Architectural firm on a variety of commercial projects which include:

· 1927 Church Restoration: Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Racine, WI.   Project Manager and Architect for the selected repair and refurbishing of the   exterior envelope. Specifically the halting of moisture retention in the   exterior stone facade cladding, stone masonry repointing, water-soak   cleaning, concrete repair and patching related issues. Roof leaks and   repairs, IE.: slate roof repair, copper refurbishing; ornamental  copper   fascia, flashing, gutters & downspouts. The complete refurbishing of the   interior Sanctuary, including plaster repair, painting, wood refurbishing,   re-lamping of existing light fixtures and related issues. · Gateway College, Racine, WI. Site work, below grade parking &   underground connecting corridor. Architectural Project Manager for the new   asphalt, concrete paving and repair to the connecting corridor. Author of   Specifications and Construction Documents. Estimated cost – 115,000 USD

From April 1997 through February   2006 and June 1989 through July 1994 Preston served as President of an   architectural firm which is a subsidiary of the parent company. Estimated   construction cost for both durations – 488M USD.

· ADA Compliance – Construction Administration – Milwaukee Public Schools   - 1995-1996. Supervision and coordination of construction inspectors. Total of 67 schools, estimated cost   9,555,548 USD.

· America’s Black Holocaust Museum Remodeling - Milwaukee, WI.

· Contract awarded as Prime Consultant for Milwaukee County, As   Supervising Architect provide design, design development, CD’s, contract   administration, and job close-out. Projects:

· Milwaukee General Mitchell Airport – Canopy Walk Extension Milwaukee   County Prime Consultant. Extend and add canopies for existing sidewalk and   passenger drop off areas. Estimated cost 120,000 USD.

· Milwaukee County Zoo – Rhino/Elephant Renovations. Bear habitat   - safety net design and implementation. Aviary building safety walks for   maintenance.   Pachyderm habitat renovations: rework of existing exhibit areas to   accommodate more elephant space, relocate the rhinoceros and design squeeze   cage. The squeeze cage is massive series of cage doors that open and close   quickly for the elephants and rhinos. Once inside the elephant or rhino could   go through a routine checkup, shots applied if needed and then moved through.   The cage doors and tracks needed to be very strong because the elephant can   exert extreme force, especially when given the needle. Design solution was   through a variety of custom gears, chains, crank handles, rollers and tracks.   10 years later it is still in working order. These were some of my most   uncooperative clients. Estimated construction cost 625,000 USD.

· Milwaukee VA Hospital HVAC renovations.

· Milwaukee General Mitchell Airport – Noise Management program. For   surrounding areas over 1000 homes received sound insulation modifications   under Phase 1 of the HOPP program. The avigation easement option was chosen   by 150 homeowners and the sales assistance option was selected by one (1)   homeowner. A total of 63M USD has been spent on construction, acquisitions,   churches, and schools, purchase of vacant land and consultants since the   program began in 1994. Milwaukee County elected to adopt new ventilation   standards for the current HOPP Residential Sound Insulation Program. The   Quality Ventilation Program (QVP) ensures that HOPP participants receive   improved ventilation performance as well as the sound insulation   modification.
